Bit of a short blog this week, as the nights are drawing in, day’s getting shorter, the weather turns colder, mornings are wetter…….. Soon be Christmas!!
Up first, Ian Rowe called to let us know about a fundraising day by the Shropshire County Cricket Club raising £250. Big thanks to Ian and all involved.
Continuing on the sporty front, remember John Glover who was going to compete in the Wolverhampton Marathon but was then struck down with the lurgy? Well he has recovered splendidly and to prove it completed the Manchester ½ Marathon in 2hrs 14mins and raised a fantastic £385 for Rupert. Glad to see you are better John and great work.
We reported in the last blog that Emily & Neil (Also known as Alex by nobody other than Liz) would be doing their bit for Rupert by dressing up and standing outside Bridgnorth Majestic Cinema. Well true to their word they did brave the cold evening and raised £73.03 – Well worth hypothermia we are sure you all agree, super.
On the same night we attended Chorley Village Hall to collect the cheque for £1,000 that had been raised from the Chorley Show for Rupert’s Revenge earlier in the year, but we had a bit of a surprise. The ground that the show is held on annually is owned by Willowdene Farm who also supplies the water and electricity for the event. In recognition of this Chorley show donated £250 to Willowdene Farm who immediately donated it back to Rupert’s Revenge, what a fantastic gesture and a massive thank you to Willowdene Farm and all the organisers of the show.
Another event from this week that was quite novel was a Pumpkin Carving Completion held by staff at Doosan that raised £15, every little counts as they say. (Pumpkins are available from other supermarkets)
We will let you know how the Halloween Haunting at The Gym Club goes in the next blog but it sounds like it could be fun, if your idea of fun is sweaty exercise in fancy dress. All for a great cause.
Last thing for this week is a request for volunteers to be stewards for the West End & Bridgnorth Sings for Rupert event being held on Sunday 19th November at St Leonards Church. If you can help then please get in touch with us at [email protected] or if you know the infamous Sally Themans, contact her directly.
